A Racing Legend

He was born in Zamora on 25th January 1945

He died in Ibiza on 3rd August 2017

He was smart, thin and short with dark hair

His lack of height and weight prevents him for competing in higher categories

 With 10 years of age he emigrated to Madrid and when he was 14 years old he moved to Barcelona, where he began working as an apprentice in a motorcycle factory

Motorcycle rider, he was the first Spanish to win a World Championship

In 1965 he won his first race in Seville

He won 90 great prizes and 120 races in Spanish championships

He was very superstitious, he won 12 + 1 world championships, the first one  in 1969 and the last one in 1984

He retired in 1986 and from 1989 he was a sports commentator for TV.
