Thanksgiving is a celebration in the United States which takes part on the fourth Thursday of November. Americans celebrate this occasion with a family dinner, where they eat stuffed turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, gravy and pumpkin pie.
Thanksgiving originated as a harvest festival. The event that Americans call the «First Thanksgiving» was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the New World in October 1621.
